When in doubt, get a boobie out.

It sounds like a joke.

And honestly… sometimes it is.

But ask almost any breastfeeding parent and they’ll tell you there’s an incredible amount of truth hiding inside those seven little words.

Baby crying?
Get a boobie out.

Not sure if they’re hungry, tired, overwhelmed, overstimulated, under the weather, or simply needing a cuddle?
Get a boobie out.

Long day?
Boobie.

Teething?
Boobie.

Big emotions?
Boobie.

Just because?
Believe it or not… sometimes boobie.

Breastfeeding isn’t only about feeding. It’s warmth. It’s familiarity. It’s comfort. It’s regulation. It’s connection.

Sometimes your baby wants milk.

Sometimes they just want you.

As parents, we often feel pressure to have all the answers. We Google symptoms, analyse wake windows, count feeds, wonder if we’re doing enough, and convince ourselves there’s some complicated solution we’re missing.

Sometimes there is.

But often?

The simplest answer is already in your arms.

That doesn’t mean breastfeeding magically fixes everything, and it certainly doesn’t mean every cry is about hunger. Babies still get sick. They still need nappy changes, sleep, cuddles, and sometimes they simply need time.

But if you’re breastfeeding and you’re wondering where to start…

Start there.

There is very little downside to offering the breast.

If they’re hungry, wonderful.

If they’re thirsty, perfect.

If they need comfort, you’ve given it.

If they aren’t interested, they’ll let you know.

It’s responding to your baby with one of the most versatile parenting tools you’ll ever have.

So next time you’re standing in the kitchen wondering why your little one has suddenly become inconsolable…

Take a breath.

Smile to yourself.

And remember the unofficial motto of breastfeeding parents everywhere:

When in doubt… get a boobie out.
